NRSE 7210 - Advanced Pathophysiology for Advanced Practice Nursing


Focuses on integrating knowledge of advanced physiology with pathophysiology and clinical implications across the life span. Includes analysis of health disparities and outcomes resulting from genetic, environment and stress related causes. Emphasis on systems-focused mechanisms of disease.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to describe the physiology, etiology, pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of specific diseases processes.
  • Students will be able to differentiate among normal findings, variations of normal findings and abnormal findings based of lifespan changes.
  • Students will be able to integrate nursing science and other health disciplines in assessing normal versus abnormal variants.
  • Students will be able to evaluate determinants of health and health risk factors that may influence one’s well-being.
  • Students will be able to assimilate knowledge of pathophysiologic processes to correlate with physical assessment findings.
  • Students will be able to synthesize emerging research or evidence-based knowledge regarding pathological and/or genetic changes in selected disease processes and clinical reasoning.
