AAS 2200 - Introduction to Black Political Economy
Exploration of theories or political policies and economic processes, their interrelations, and their influence on the socioeconomic character of the black community.

Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to describe the concept of political economy.
- Students will be able to use information from source(s) with enough interpretation/evaluation to develop a comprehensive analysis of political economy’s relevance to public policy areas such as housing, education, and welfare.
- Students will be able to systematically and methodically analyze assumptions and carefully evaluate political economy’s relevance to Black political engagement.
- Students will be able to explain the historical role of race in structuring the political economy of the United States.
- Students will be able to state a specific position for how race influences the present distribution of economic resources in the US, as well as its potential limitations.
- Students will be able to critically state conclusions about the relevance of political economy to understanding racial inequality.
