ART 3600 - Interior Architecture Evidence-Based Design Studio Focuses on the practice of Evidence-Based Design (EBD), basing design decisions on research evidence to create design solutions that are not only creatively inspired but also result in more consistently successful design solutions. Emphasis is on barrier-free design concepts, universal design application, and code compliance. Design investigations include research, programming, analysis, theory, ideation and conceptualization, schematic design, project evaluation, refinement, materials, finishes, detailing, furnishings, lighting, communication graphics, and formal presentation. Topics vary based on current social issues. Students must maintain a computer workstation in the studio.
Requisites: ART 2600 Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 studio, 2.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to demonstrate proficiency in a range of design skills, including ideation sketching, space-planning, three-dimensional modeling, and professional design presentation.
- Students will be able to create and critically analyze environments designed for human use using research methods.
- Students will be able to critique others’ design work with knowledge of expected industry standards.
- Students will be able to conduct various methods of pre-design research and integrate findings into their design solutions.
