ES 4250 - Watershed Management Examine the major chemical and biological factors that affect watershed health and how to incorporate them into a watershed management plan in consultation with stakeholders. Discuss the importance of stakeholder engagement and identify key stakeholders and the key social, legal and economic issues that will affect management decisions.
Requisites: (BIOS 2750 or 3750 or PBIO 2090) and (CHEM 1210 or 1510) Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. - Create a shortlist of the most important problems that require management in a watershed.
- Explain the importance of water resource management on a watershed scale.
- Identify and discuss the major chemical, physical and biological characteristics of a stream that will affect its utility, quality and value.
- Identify and engage stakeholders.
- Recognize the pros and cons of management decisions and how they differ from the point of view of different stakeholders.
- Reconcile the diverse viewpoints into a watershed management plan.
