COMS 3200 - Communication and New Technology This course explores the ways in which communication is facilitated by, in, and through new communication technologies.
Requisites: Soph or Jr or Sr Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to explain and critically evaluate traditional and contemporary theories of computer-mediated communication and new communication technology.
- Students will be able to explain how computer-mediated communication and new communication technologies function to establish, develop, maintain, and complicate relationships in a variety of contexts.
- Students will be able to critically evaluate their beliefs about communication technology and explain its influence on their life.
- Students will be able to demonstrate ethical, self-reflective, and theory-informed use of technology in everyday situations.
