COMM 4000 - Communication Capstone Students apply communication strategies and create communication projects in areas related to students’ professional interests. Students will synthesize and integrate concepts from multiple areas of communication.
Requisites: 18 hrs in Applied Communication or Communication major including COMS 3420 and Sr. Credit Hours: 3 OHIO BRICKS: Capstone: Capstone or Culminating Experience General Education Code (students who entered prior to Fall 2021-22): 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 seminar Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to describe communication’s impact on both internal and external audiences for public, non-profit, and private organizations.
- Students will be able to analyze the importance of clear and consistent communication in professional arenas.
- Students will be able to critique communication within and/or between individuals and organizations as well as articulate the communicative complexities and limitations identified in these contexts.
- Students will be able to apply communication strategy skills and research strategies in an applied project.
- Students will be able to synthesize communication theories, practice, and assessment approaches while integrating the strategic objectives of an organization.
- Students will be able to reflect on who they are as citizens and discuss how learning communication theories and constructs have shaped their sense of self.
