COED 4305 - Concepts & Issues in Coaching Pedagogy This course provides students with an opportunity to critically examine a broad range of concepts and issues central to the field of coaching pedagogy and athlete learning. The course considers key issues and dilemmas that are prevalent in coaching practice and addresses different coaching approaches that can be implemented to assist improving athlete learning and performance.
Requisites: COED 2120 and JR or SR Credit Hours: 3 OHIO BRICKS: Capstone: Capstone or Culminating Experience Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 seminar Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to describe an issue or problem by comparing learning theories in coaching practice.
- Students will be able to explain contemporary coaching concepts and issues related to coaching pedagogical methods.
- Students will be able to compare coaching pedagogical theories to previous experiences in coaching settings.
- Students will be able to plan and deliver coaching sessions communicating various key coaching pedagogical methods in practice.
- Students will be able to critically reflect on their development as a coach by building on their previous experiences to solve problems in new and/or varied coaching situations.
