HLTH 6060 - Gerontechnology An analysis of the health and environmental problems confronting an aging society and ways in which technology can be harnessed to address them. Topics and problems focus on existing technologies and their applicability for use by and for the elderly, and the identification of new technologies to enhance elderly independence both in the community and in healthcare settings.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Assess and evaluate existing technologies and their applicability for use by the elderly.
- Discuss and evaluate health issues as they relate to the elderly.
- Discuss and evaluate technological advances which can be utilized by the elderly.
- Identify new areas in which technologies can be developed to assist in independent living in the community and in health care of the elderly in institutional settings.
