MUS 5000 - Tonal Theory Review
Review of tonal music theory for entering graduate students. Assignment to class based on results of the Graduate Music Theory Placement Examation. Course seven weeks in duration. No credit given toward the music theory requirement in any graduate program in the School of Music.
Requisites:
Credit Hours: 1.5
Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 3.0 hours.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
- The student will be able to master the fundamentals of tonal music theory.
- The student will be able to write harmonic and melodic examples in a common-practice tonal style.
- The student will be able, using appropriate techniques and terminology, to analyze an example of common-practice music.
