POLS 6020 - Advanced Quantitative Research Methods This course examines advanced quantitative methods used in political science. Students will learn when and how to apply particular techniques to address important research questions in political science. The course will begin with an in-depth analysis of multiple regression, move on to consider extensions of the multiple regression model, and finally introduce maximum likelihood estimation.
Requisites: POLS 6010 Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture, 1.0 laboratory Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Conduct a variety of diagnostic and choose the appropriate quantitative techniques to analyze particular data.
- Conduct a variety of statistical tests using appropriate software, and interpret the results of various analyses.
- Summarize and evaluate political science research that uses particular advanced quantitative methods.
- Summarize the assumptions underlying different quantitative techniques.
