SPAN 5640 - Teaching Spanish: Theory and Methodology Provides an introduction to the philosophy and theoretical orientation of the teaching of Spanish language and cultures; an introduction to issues in second language acquisition research, with a focus on Spanish; and opportunities to develop professional and instructional materials.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 8.0 hours. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Understand a broad range of current theory and research concerning foreign language learning within the historical context of the profession.
- Have an in-depth understanding of the considerations necessary in teaching Spanish.
- The successful student will use understanding of course content to evaluate teaching situations and determine and develop appropriate instructional methods and materials.
