SW 5922 - Foundation Field II


Continues the preparation of students to apply social work research and theory to practice and to develop roles and interventions for generalist practice. The student is assisted in progressively building a solid substructure of knowledge, skills, values and ethics in social work practice, in conjunction with professional development within the context of an individual field placement in a social service agency. Requires 20 hours per week in a social agency.

Requisites: SW 5801 and 5921 and (SW 5802 concurrent)
Credit Hours: 3 - 6
Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 6.0 hours.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 10.0 practicum
Grades: Eligible Grades: F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to contribute to the development of knowledge, to the exchange of educational information, and to community enrichment through field projects and experiences.
  • Students will be able to demonstrate the nine competencies of generalist practice, as well as the requisite practice behaviors, at the beginning professional level.
  • Students will be able to effectively participate in a planned, individualized field practicum in a community agency.
  • Utilizing the supervision of a field liaison and an agency-based field instructor, students will be able to apply theory to practice in a community agency.
