Program Overview
Our highly qualified and reputable faculty, who bring extensive experience and expertise in the field, deliver a curriculum that blends theory and practice, preparing students to excel in the dynamic field of higher education. We offer two modality options for this degree:
1) The Master’s in Higher Education (MHE) Online program (ME6276) is designed for individuals who wish to advance their knowledge and skills while working within higher education settings. The program is offered in a flexible online format.
2) The Hybrid Master’s in Higher Education program (ME6286) is designed for working professionals in the Southeast Ohio region seeking career advancement and participating in or transitioning into higher education and student affairs administration. Students will engage in face-to-face learning with professors for most courses on the Athens campus, while 20–40% of their coursework will be completed online depending on the start semester.
Both modalities, Online (ME6276) and Hybrid (ME6286), are part-time programs can be completed in just 1 year and 8 months, with two courses per semester.
Program Learning Outcomes
At the end of the program, students will be able to:

Admission Requirements
A portfolio that includes a goal statement, transcripts of all previous post-secondary coursework, and three letters of recommendation. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required. Ohio University employees must apply early to allow time to complete the university’s conflict of interest review.
International Students
This program does not permit full-time enrollment in residence at Ohio University, and an I-20 cannot be issued based on admission to this program.
