Program Overview
The Superintendent Leadership and Licensure Certificate is a post-master’s program designed for experienced education professionals—such as principals, program directors, central office administrators, and other specialists—who aspire to become superintendents or district-level leaders. Offered in a cohort-based, online format, the program meets approximately one Saturday per month and totals 16 credit hours. Each semester, students enroll in two core courses (3 credits each) and one internship course (2 credits). Coursework and field experiences emphasize strategic district improvement planning; operations and resource management; education policy and governance; and community and stakeholder engagement.

Opportunities for Graduates
The program prepares educators to fill district leadership positions such as Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Curriculum Directors and other central office positions. Up to 16 hours from this licensure program may be applied toward graduation requirements for the Educational Leadership doctorate.

Transcripts conferring a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in education or education-related field from an accredited university with an overall minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 scale (not required if degree is from Ohio University)

This program does not permit full-time enrollment in residence at Ohio University, and an I-20 cannot be issued based on admission to this program.
