Program Overview
The Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management is designed to provide students with practical and effective skills as they begin or advance their careers in the nonprofit sector. Courses in this program focus on developing student skills in fundraising, resource development, program management, marketing and communication, media strategies, and government/nonprofit collaboration. The curriculum also focuses on preparing nonprofit managers to understand the size and scope of the field, ethical considerations of managing in the nonprofit sector, and the regulatory environment that nonprofits operate within. Students who complete the certificate will be equipped to meet the growing demand for skilled employees in the nonprofit sector and will be prepared to lead and develop within their organizations.
Certificate Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to:
- Explain the managerial and ethical considerations that are unique to working in the nonprofit sector.
- Develop and implement a communications plan that strategically promotes mission-related goals and objectives.
- Assess current trends in the nonprofit sector and how they impact nonprofit management.
- Apply fundraising strategies that are effective in meeting organizational needs and objectives
