Certificate Overview

The 11-credit hour College Teaching certificate is a stand-alone, interdisciplinary graduate certificate that provides current and future college and university faculty/staff with the knowledge and skills to teach effectively in higher education settings. It focuses on theories of learning, pedagogy and assessment strategies for in-person and online teaching, principles of universal design for learning, and opportunities for experiential learning and practice. The certificate can be completed in one year. 

Certificate Learning Outcomes

  • Students will be able to articulate key principles of teaching, learning, and assessment, including different theories and methods.
  • Students will be able to apply strategies to create inclusive, engaging, and responsive learning environments, both in person and online, for diverse college student populations.

  • Admission to the graduate certificate requires an undergraduate degree.
