Music Education Major: Choral Emphasis (B.Mus.)

Must complete 9 performance lab courses (MUS 090) prior to graduation.

Minimum credit hours required for graduation: 219

Bachelor of Music in Music Education


To specialize in music education, you must choose one of two areas of concentration: instrumental music education or choral/general music education. Upon completion of the program and State Board of Education requirements, the music education candidate will receive an Ohio Multi-Age License for teaching music in the public schools.

Freshman


  • Principal Instrument Credit Hours: 6
    Principal instrument may be voice, piano, or organ. Students who have voice as the principal instrument must elect piano as their secondary instrument. Students who have piano or organ as the principal instrument must elect voice as their secondary instrument.
  • Secondary Instrument (see music handbook) Credit Hours: 6
  • Performance Group Credit Hours: 3–6
  • Tier I English Composition Credit Hours: 5
  • Tier I Quantitative Skills Credit Hours: 4-5

Sophomore


  • Principal Instrument Credit Hours: 6
