Program Overview

The dance minor in choreography and performance is designed for individuals majoring in other fields who wish, in the course of their college experience, to gain an understanding of the art of dance. This program may be applied toward the dance major sequence.

Admissions Information

Freshman/First-Year Admission

In addition to University admissions requirements students must apply and audition for admission to the Dance program. The first semester of work in the Dance minor is probationary.

Change of Program Policy

Upon admission to the Dance - Performance and Choreography minor, appropriate forms must be completed by the student in the Dance office or College of Fine Arts office.

External Transfer Admission

No requirements beyond University admission requirements and requirements stated above.

Opportunities Upon Graduation

This minor enhances student’s preparedness for fields like arts agency administration, dance studio administration, and/or prepares the student to be an artistically informed citizen and supporter of the arts in culture

Minor Hours Requirement


The dance – performance and choregraphy minor requires a minimum of 20 hours.

Complete the following courses:

Directed Electives


Dance minors must complete 4 hours of 3000-level or above courses in addition to freshman dance major/minor requirements to total 20 hours. These courses should be chosen in consultation with an academic advisor from dance.
