Program Overview

The interdisciplinary nature of the global studies–Europe major is designed to provide you with a broad understanding of Europe applicable for a wide variety of professions. Majors are required to study one European language and study abroad or intern in Europe. Students must consult with their advisor and the Education Abroad Office before committing to an internship or study abroad program.

Global Studies Core Requirements


Complete 45 hours, including the following courses:

Complete 12 hours from the following courses (GLC courses for GLC students only):

European Studies Core Course


Complete the following course:

European Studies Electives


European Studies Courses


Complete 12 hours from the following courses. Courses must be from three different departments.

European Language Courses


Complete 6 hours from one of the following European languages listed below. In combination with your B.A. language requirement, complete a total of 3 years in one European language or equivalent.

Education Abroad/Internship


Complete one advisor-approved education abroad or internship experience which complements area and language of study; and is at least 5 weeks in duration.
