Program Overview: The mission of the Graduate Athletic Training Program, accredited by the CAATE as a post-professional program, is to promote and advance the athletic training profession through academics, scholarship, and clinical practice. The program provides advanced systematic study, innovative research opportunities, leadership development, teaching experiences, and professional service. An emphasis is placed on personal and professional development. Graduates receive a Master of Science in Athletic Training. Students may choose between a one-year and two-year program. The one-year option culminates with a capstone research project; two-year students may choose between a thesis option or a two year capstone research project.
Admissions Policy: Admissions occur at the master’s degree level. Candidates for admission must graduate from a CAATE-accredited professional (entry-level) athletic training program and be eligible for licensure as an athletic trainer in the state of Ohio or registration in West Virginia.
Change Policy: Same as first-year graduate admissions requirements.
Transfer Policy: Same as first-year graduate admissions requirements.
Opportunities: Graduates are prepared for advanced health care practice in athletic training. Some graduates may elect to pursue doctoral-level degrees.
