Program Overview
The computer science technology program is a course of study that leads to an Associate Degree in Applied Business. Students develop skills in several areas of computer science including hardware, computer networking, computer programming, databases, network security, and website development. In addition, students develop skills that enable them to work effectively in business and society including oral and written communication, logic, trouble-shooting, ethical behavior, and time management. As full participants in the academic mission of the University, students take courses in a variety of disciplines in preparation for entering the work force or continuing with their education.

Opportunities Upon Graduation
Students who earn a degree in computer science technology work in a variety of positions in computer-based professions such as programming, computer networking, website design and management, and database support. Depending on the chosen electives in the major, graduates are prepared to work as network technicians, computer support technicians, help desk support analysts, entry level programmers, and website developers. Graduates may choose to pursue a bachelors degree in technical and applied studies, communication studies, or specialized studies.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the computer science technology major, students will have:
- Exposure to a breath of computer science technologies and programs including networking, programming, database management, and web site development.
- Developed effective computer science skills, including the ability to learn new technologies, troubleshoot problems, create system requirements, evaluate systems, and document requirements and solutions.
- Developed effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Developed an understanding of the role of the computer professional within an organization, including the basics of business accounting and economics, the ethical use of information and computer systems, and the professional understanding of an organization’s goals, culture, and business.
- Developed respect for diversity and community
- Developed the ability to create, manage, and follow a plan that meets an identified goal.
- Obtained the skills necessary for future academic growth.
