Program Overview

Students interested in the classical world can minor in classical civilization, and take courses in a wide range of subjects. While language courses at the 2000-level and above can count toward the minor, you do not have to study Latin or Greek to complete the minor. Students majoring in history, English, fine arts and anthropology have taken the minor.

Opportunities Upon Graduation

While the minor in classical civilization does not prepare you for a specific career or graduate program, your studies in classics will help prospective employers or admissions committees take note of your Ohio University degree. The classics minor will give you some focused instruction and practice in the reading and analysis of important classical texts that raise fundamental questions about our culture and society.
