Program Overview
The BS1221 nursing major code is designed for individuals who are preparing to sit for the registered nurse (RN) licensing exam. Individuals will apply to the preBSN major (ND1220), complete specified college courses, and apply to selective admission to the BS1221 major. Success in Pre-Nursing does not guarantee selective admission into the BS1221 major. Applicants must apply and meet specific School of Nursing requirements. For additional information and specific requirements refer to School of Nursing website.
Admissions Information
Freshman/First-Year Admission
Freshmen are not directly admitted to BS1221. Students apply to ND1220 (preBSN major). Applicants must apply and meet specific School of Nursing requirements for ND1220.
Change of Program Policy
Individuals seeking to change their major to ND1220 or BS1221 need to contact the School of Nursing, schedule an advising appointment, and complete the required paperwork. All applicants must meet specific School of Nursing requirements. Applications are only reviewed twice a year.
External Transfer Admission
Transfer students are reviewed individually for admission to the School of Nursing.
Opportunities Upon Graduation
Graduates are eligible to sit for the registered nursing licensing exam (NCLEX-RN). Upon successful passing of the NCLEX-RN, graduates can be employed in a variety of settings. Graduates are prepared to enter master’s or doctoral programs in nursing which prepare baccalaureate registered nurses for advanced nursing roles.
