Program Overview

The social service minor is for students wishing to expand their knowledge of the social work field and how social workers and agencies function.  It provides students the knowledge of the many ways that social work improves well-being for individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.  Students also become knowledgeable of the social work values of excelling social and economic justice, dignity and worth of all persons, the importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence.  Students who wish to declare the social service minor should contact their major college student services office.

Social work minors and bachelor of specialized studies majors who specialize in social work are not eligible for social work licensure in the state of Ohio and other states. You must have successfully completed the social work major in an accredited institution and have passed a licensing examination for licensure in Ohio.  Students should consult the particular social work licensing laws for the state in which they plan to reside.
