Program Overview
The School Nurse Certificate offered is jointly by the School of Nursing and the Patton College of Education. The required courses are a combination of courses from nursing, psychology, education, child and family services, and health. Many of the courses are delivered online, but some require attendance in a classroom. Students who are completing the RN-to-BSN program may take these courses while working on the BSN degree. Individuals who hold a BSN degree can complete the requirements as a post baccalaureate non-degree seeking student (ND1204).
Individuals who wish to work as a school nurse must complete the program and request a pupil services license from the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) in order to work in Ohio schools. The license will be issued by the Ohio Department of Education.
