Program Overview
The Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders is dedicated to excellence in research and teaching undergraduate and graduate students who will be successful in future academic study and employment.
This four-year audiology program provides the academic and clinical experiences necessary for professional licensure in audiology. Opportunities will also be available for those who seek national certification. We offer students access to state-of-the art facilities and equipment, a variety of clinical experiences, and mentored research experiences. The program includes a full-time supervised externship during the summer of the third year and fall and spring of the fourth year.
Additional features of our program include the following:
- The three components of the doctorate, including coursework, clinical practicum, and research training are integrated into a sequential program.
- We offer ample and diverse clinical experiences in a variety of settings including a beautiful, well-equipped on-campus clinic located in the same building as the academic classrooms, research laboratories and faculty and staff offices.
- Engagement with multicultural, multinational and multilingual students and faculty.
- Dedicated personalized clinical supervision from seasoned clinicians.
- Opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary and global health initiatives.
Concentrations
Clinical doctorate in audiology degree applicants who are interested in academic careers and who demonstrate potential for doctoral study may request consideration for admission to the Joint Au.D./Ph.D. program. This program is designed for students who are certain they wish to pursue a Ph.D. and receive the Au.D. degree along the way.
Upon completion of the program, the student will have completed the clinical doctorate of audiology and a doctorate of philosophy in hearing science. This allows for maximum efficiency overall and permits the student to pursue research and clinical training simultaneously, rather than sequentially. The purpose of this program is to nurture and guide students with excellent potential while integrating clinical doctorate and doctoral coursework, research and clinical experiences.
