Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Business (B.S.B.) degree is a fully online, accredited bachelor’s degree in business. The program provides students with knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for advancement in business.

The program is available to first-year students, students who have completed a two-years associate’s degree program (90 or more quarter hours or 60 or more semester hours) from an accredited community college, regional campus, or technical college, and students who seek to further their educations by completing the requirements for a baccalaureate degree.

For the student with an associate degree, the program integrates the general and technical skills developed within associate degree programs with the professional skills and dispositions inculcated in a Bachelor of Business degree program. With appropriate advising, students will take a sequence of courses that will:

  1. meet Ohio University’s General Education and baccalaureate degree requirements,
  2. follow naturally from and amplify the learning experiences in their associate degree subject areas; and
  3. qualify them for an immediate career in business or for entry into a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) program.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the applied management major, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate business thinking by applying general business concepts to strategic decision-making situations.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking by exploring issues, ideas, and events before accepting or formulating conclusions.
  • Demonstrate integrative learning by using knowledge of core business disciplines to make connections among ideas and experiences.
  • Demonstrate positive workplace attitudes through composure, energy/drive, high standards, integrity, and a results orientation.
  • Demonstrate problem solving by designing, evaluating, and implementing a strategy to answer an open-ended question or achieve a desired goal.
