Program Overview

Our fully online multi-age Computer/Technology Endorsement program prepares licensed K-12 teachers who need to develop online courses, plan to teach computer applications, or want to assume technology coordinator positions.  The program requires 13 credit hours and can be completed in two semesters.

Opportunities upon Completion

The Computer/Technology Endorsement program prepares K-12 teachers to become leaders in technology integration and in leveraging technology, media, and related resources to engage students in meaningful learning experiences. This endorsement is designed to provide participants with an opportunity to design instruction in the area of computer literacy and computer education in Ohio classrooms as well as provide distance learning with confidence. The program also prepares participants to design and develop theory-driven instructional materials and strategies for online learning environments.

Relationship to Parent Programs

Credits taken for this endorsement may be applied to requirements for the fully online master’s degree in Computer Education and Technology (ME6506)  degree or the fully online Instructional Design Certificate (CTPIND)  .

Admission Requirements

No additional requirements beyond university graduate admissions requirements.

International students

This endorsement program alone does not permit full-time enrollment in residence at Ohio University, and an I-20 cannot be issued based on admission to this certificate. However, this certificate can be completed as an integral part of the Instructional Technology Ph.D. Program (PH6225)  , and an I-20 may be issued based on admission to that degree program.

Completion Requirements

Complete 13 credit hours and field experience as follows:

Culminating Experience


A 50-hour field experience is also part of this program, and your program advisor will work with you to identify field experience opportunities that are convenient to you.

You must pass an Ohio Assessment Exam (Computer/Technology Endorsement 111770, 016/017 Computer/Technology [Subtests I and II]) after you complete your coursework to add the endorsement to your teaching license.
