Program Overview
The Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies (BTAS) in Organizational Studies is an online degree offered through both OHIO Online and Regional Higher Education. It is intended for students who have already obtained junior status (completion of 60 semester credits) and have a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) in previous college work.
The Organizational Studies major focuses on leadership and organizational effectiveness and aims to attract students who wish to be more successful in the workplace by completing work in collaboration, diversity, ethics, and problem solving. This major spotlights the practical application of knowledge and skills necessary for advancement in a student’s chosen career and instills skills associated with a bachelor’s degree like written and oral communication, critical thinking, and effective presentations.
As with all Ohio University bachelor’s degrees, a student must earn a total of 120 credit hours. Since a student already has obtained a minimum of 60 credits before declaring the major, this degree is already at least 50% completed. (Note: A student may transfer in all of their semester credits as those credits will count toward electives.) As part of the 120 credits, students must meet Ohio University general education requirements and the 30 credits required for the major. Students must complete all TAS courses with a grade of C or better and obtain a 2.0 GPA in both the major and overall. At least 30 of the credits must be upper division courses (3000/4000) which generally happens through completing the major coursework.
Online Degree Option: The Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies degree in Organizational Studies can be completed online. This format allows you to pace your classes to fit your life and career. Please visit www.ohio.edu/online for more information.
*This program was previously BT5510 - Technical and Applied Studies. The name change to Organizational Studies is anticipated to be approved by the Ohio University Board of Trustees in August 2024.
