Program Overview
The M.M. in performance is designed for professionally oriented performers and studio and school music teachers who wish to pursue this curriculum as a terminal degree. It is also for those who wish to use it as a foundation for doctoral study. The goal is to prepare graduate students, both technically and intellectually, for professional careers as performers or conductors. Acceptance into the Master of Music in performance is by audition only.
Program Learning Outcomes
In successfully pursuing an Ohio University Master of Music degree, students will
- Develop advanced capacities to work independently and make effective artistic and intellectual judgments and professional decisions in the area of specialization.
- Demonstrate professional competence in the area of specialization before peers and faculty.
- Produce a final project or equivalent reviewed by more than one faculty member.

Admission Requirements
Acceptance into the Master of Music in Performance program is by audition only for all entering students.
International Students
This program permits full-time enrollment in residence at Ohio University, and an I-20 may be issued based on admission to this program.
Graduation Requirements
The M.M. in Performance degree requires a minimum of 38 to 47 credit hours, depending on the track. Complete the requirements for one of the seven tracks as follows:
