Certificate Overview

Expected time to complete degree: 2 to 3 semesters

Business Analytics is a field of study that is in high demand. Virtually every form of business can utilize the skills of this discipline to improve decision making within a business environment. Data today is easier to generate, collect and store, and those characteristics will not likely to change. The supply of working professionals that have been trained to analyze data properly is currently a limitation within today’s business setting.

The Advanced Business Analytics Certificate provides students an opportunity to learn beyond the foundational methods and techniques within the areas of descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. It also adds computer programming and database management featuring software that is currently being used within business environments to student learning. Having advanced technical skills are needed when from understanding to implementing analytical solutions within an organization.

For the Advanced Business Analytics curriculum, students would be required to take three required courses (9 credit hours). These courses are also offered as part of the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MBAn) program.

The mission of the Advanced Business Analytics Certificate is to offer students from various backgrounds an alternative pathway to develop advanced analytics skills within business environments. This program is ideal for students that have completed the Business Analytics Certificate or for students holding an MBA with a Business Analytics Concentration.

Opportunities upon Completion

The demand for professionals with advanced analytical skills is outpacing the rate at which students are earning degrees in higher education. Upon completion, students will be prepared to find advanced careers in business analytics, will achieve competitive advantage to progress within their current organization and/or career path, and will be prepared for roles involving database administration and solving large scale business problems.
