Class of 2028 Pathways to Health and Wellness Curriculum


All Heritage College medical students begin their medical education with Osteopathic Approach to Patient Care 1, which focuses on wellness. Each week students are provided with learning objectives, outcomes, and preparatory materials to direct study, activate prior experience and knowledge, and identify areas for growth. 

Education topic to be emphasized are identified and presented via a patient case and guide the integrated learning activities thoughout the week. Activities include integrated learning labs, osteopathic patient care skills, simulated experiences and early clinical experiences. A reporting phase will allow for reflection and assimilation in a small-group format. 

The Pathways to Health and Wellness Curriculum requires a minimum of 215 credits.*

*Credit hour calculation updates are pending University approval; the updates do not require any new expectations for students.

Required Clinical Selectives Rotations


A minimum of 19 weeks of selective are required, 17 weeks of clinical rotation selective plus 2 weeks for the Health Policy and Systems Selective. Note: A minimum of 32 contact hours is required per week.

Elective Clinical Rotations


A minimum of 32 weeks of elective rotations are required (2 credits per week)

Didactic Courses


With permission, the following Elective Didactic Courses, may be substituted for weeks of Elective Clinical Rotations and/or depending on the course taken concurrently to Clinical Rotations.
