OCOM 8300 - Primary Care This four-week clinical course is designed to give hands-on experiences to 3rd and/or 4th year students in the medical management of common disease processes encountered in primary care ambulatory practice with patients of all ages.
Credit Hours: 8
Course Outcomes
- Students will be able to address the ethical, moral, and social challenges that may confront the patient, family, or physician when dealing with health care issues.
- Students will be able to demonstrate an advanced level of history and physical exam skills.
- Students will be able to demonstrate interpersonal communication skills that build rapport with patients and their families and facilitate a positive physician-patient relationship.
- Students will be able to employ patient safety measures in patient management.
- Students will be able to utilize evidence-based medicine research strategies to access information to help develop an effective treatment plan.
