OCOM 8208 - Elective - Family Medicine This elective integrates biomedical, social, osteopathic, clinical, and health systems science into the clinical learning environment. Students apply foundational concepts through faculty- and learner-directed study, reinforced by clinical experiences while on a family medicine rotation. Students collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to gain experience in comprehensive, longitudinal care across the lifespan in outpatient and inpatient settings.

Course Outcomes
- Students will be able to describe the scope of family medicine and its role in longitudinal, comprehensive care.
- Students will be able to apply diagnostic reasoning and management strategies for acute and chronic conditions across the lifespan.
- Students will be able to describe preventive care guidelines and health maintenance strategies.
- Students will be able to recognize psychosocial and behavioral health factors affecting patient care.
- Students will be able to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care in family medicine settings.
