C S 464 - Information Storage and Retrieval This course introduces both fundamental and advanced concepts in modern information retrieval. Approaches and algorithms for automatic indexing are discussed. File and access structures for implementing information retrieval systems are studied. Several information retrieval models are
investigated in detail. Methods for quantifying retrieval effectiveness and enhancing retrieval effectiveness via user relevance feedback are examined. Hypertext/Hypermedia principles are introduced, and distributed hypermedia systems are studied. Prerequisites: C S 462
Credit Hours: 5 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken three times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
