An overview of both classical and modern techniques of materials analysis. Topics covered include classical optical spectroscopies (IR, FTIR, Raman, UV/VIS), and modern surface techniques, such as AES, XPS/ESCA, and RBS. 3 lec. Prerequisites: CH E 231
