DANC 154 - African Dance Technique I Introduction to traditional dances of Africa. This course will focus on developing a balanced practical, and theoretical understanding of the dances and related traditional rhythms and songs. It will explore basic African dance movements coming from secular and social dances, focusing on their quality, timing and spatial organization. Over the course of 10 weeks the students will learn approximately four (4) different dance types from four (4) different ethnic groups. No prior African dance experience is necessary. Prerequisites: DANCE MAJOR OR MINOR
Credit Hours: 2 Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 6 hours.
