EDCR 2015 - Childhood in America: High School Second of two introductions to children and their characteristics at progressive levels of development. Introduces most widely accepted and useful theories of adolescent growth and development for children ages 11-18 years. Introduces factors that influence children’s learning, such as school structure, family structures, race, culture, gender, and socioeconomic status. Students examine the value and belief systems of themselves and children, as well as identify elements of successful teaching. Enhances awareness of community, equity and the common good as attributes of democratic education.
