HIST 3462 - Modern China Since 1911 The past century of revolutions, beginning with the overthrow of the Qing in 1911. From a disintegrated state with warlords, China experienced the Kuomintang’s National Revolution, war with Japan and the victory of the Chinese Communist Party. This was followed by the turbulence of, Mao Zedong’s political movements, and post-Mao economic reforms aimed at working to make China once again strong and prosperous.
