FR 4511 - Francophone Literature and Culture of Africa and the Caribbean Representative works by 20th- and 21st-century writers of Africa and the Caribbean. Authors studied include (but are not limited to) Malika Mokeddem, Assia Djebar, Calixthe Beyala, Ferdinand Oyono, Léopold Senghor, Aimé Césaire, Maryse Condé, Simone Schwarz-Bart. Works are studied in their historical and cultural contexts. Readings, lectures, films, and discussions.
