CE 5380 - Prestressed Concrete Design Theory of prestressing, design and analysis of prestressed concrete beams, slabs, box girders, and bridge girders by elastic and ultimate strength methods.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to determine deflection performance of prestressed concrete beams.
- Students will be introduced to flexural analysis & design procedure of prestressed concrete.
- Students will be introduced to composite section design procedure.
- Students will be introduced to prestressed concrete bridge design procedure.
- Students will be introduced to shear design procedure of prestressed concrete.
- Students will be introduced to torsion design procedure for prestressed concrete beams.
- Students will know engineering properties of concrete and prestressing steel.
- Students will learn about how prestress may be lost.
