CE 5820 - Paving Materials and Mixtures Types, constituents, chemical behavior, tests, specifications, and uses of bituminous materials, Portland cements, and aggregates in pavements. Design and manufacture of paving mixtures and construction of pavements.
Requisites: Permission required Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be briefly introduced to advanced testing of paving materials.
- Students will be introduced to various materials used in pavement construction.
- Students will become familiarized with standard test methods that are performed to measure key properties of pavement materials.
- Students will gain understanding of how bituminous materials are utilized in pavement construction.
- Students will gain understanding of how concrete materials are utilized in pavement construction.
- Students will learn about chemical compositions and engineering properties of different paving materials.
- Students will learn how specifications are usually written for the pavig materials.
