The role of environmental assessment in transportation planning and project development is addressed.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be introduced to transportation noise as an engineering subject.
  • Students will become familiar with FHWA policy & environmental process.
  • Students will learn about archeological & historical impacts of transportation facility.
  • Students will learn about functions of wetland.
  • Students will learn about impacts of transportation facility on air quality.
  • Students will learn about impacts of transportation facility on water quality.
  • Students will learn about legeslative & regulative foundations for a transportation facility.
  • Students will understand biological/ecological impacts of transportation facility.
  • Students will understand how completed highway projects can be assessed.
  • Students will understand how economic analysis of transportation systems can be made.
