- Consider the historical origins and implications of the terms Early Modern and Renaissance.
- Explore the development of new poetic forms in the Early Modern period.
- Explore the historical context of Early Modern literature, with special emphasis on the Elizabethan monarchy.
- Explore the short fiction of Elizabethan England and its development from medieval narrative poetry.
