- Articulate how human-environment relations have changed over time, from the pre-industrial era to the present.
- Identify the major challenges confronting us as we attempt to transition to a more sustainable society.
- Recognize the various scales, both temporal and spatial, at which environmental problems and solutions manifest themselves.
