FILM 5750 - Directing Intends to provide the student with an understanding of the fundamentals of single-camera motion picture directing. Using directing exercises and lectures, the focus will be on script analysis, acting theory and process, rehearsal techniques, camera placement, and mise-en-scene.
Requisites: Film major Credit Hours: 1 - 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 8.0 hours. Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture, 2.0 laboratory Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Acquire a vocabulary with which to communicate with actors.
- Basic understanding of staging for the camera.
- Develop casting techniques and strategies.
- Develop proficiencies in rehearsal techniques.
- Gain familiarity with script breakdown and script analysis techniques.
