FR 5810 - French for Graduates: Reading I Designed specifically for graduate students, to provide them with a reading knowledge in the language sufficient for them to meet their language requirement by passing their department’s translation exam. As such these courses have similar outcomes to the 5110-5120 series, but differ from them in that students enrolled in 5810 and 5820 do not attend an undergraduate language sequence course.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - The successful student comprehends a selection of approximately 400 words in French that relates to her/his field of study in order to make a readable English translation with the aide of a French-English dictionary.
- The successful student recognizes basic vocabulary including verbs and idiomatic expressions.
- The successful student understands basic grammatical structures, as well as a variety of verb tenses in French.
