FR 6920 - Praxis in Teaching College French
Designed to provide guidance for teaching associates in instructing college students in beginning language courses. Methods of presentation and difficulties in grammar and syntax discussed. Skill of making valid and fair tests developed.
Requisites:
Credit Hours: 1
Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 4.0 hours.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 1.0 practicum
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
- The successful TA will apply appropriate grading tools and metrics in his/her own classroom.
- The successful TA will apply current theory and research concerning foreign language learning to his/her own practice in classroom teaching.
- The successful TA will better understand the particularities of the French language and, in the classroom, overcome the challenges those particularities present to the American student.
- The successful TA will create appropriate testing mechanisms for use in the his/her own classroom.
- The successful TA will develop appropriate instructional methods and materials (both technological and traditional) which will be used in the his/her own classroom.
