HIST 5865 - Churchill’s Britain Britain in the 20th- century, focusing on the country’s decline from world power: Britain’s modern constitution; the onset of trouble before 1914; the experience of two world wars; society and policy between the wars, especially appeasement and its background; postwar developments, including the welfare state, the “special relationship” with the United States, and European integration.
