INST 5911 - Special Topics in Intermediate Southeast Asian Languages and Literature Focuses on enhancing the communicative skills in Southeast Asian languages. More advanced grammar and expanding vocabulary aiming at fluency in speaking, reading, and writing simple stories using standard Southeast Asian languages will be emphasized. Complete elementary level of appropriate language as approved by instructor.
Requisites: Permission required Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 8.0 hours. Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Be able to discuss their research/institutional projects and conduct interviews in Southeast Asian language with individuals on personal, social and professional topics.
- To develop communicative skills to enable the learners to engage in meaningful verbal activities with other speakers of the language.
- To help learners engage in issues that are more complex and explain them to their audience.
- Understand social and philosophical ideas expressed in literature and other texts that students will be reading, watching or listening.
